The gynaecologist can also take a cell sample from the cervix. Norwegian women in the age group 25-70 are recommended to take a cell sample (pap smear) every three years.
When needed, the gynaecologist conducts microbiological examinations. If you want a sample for chlamydia, the gynaecologist takes a sample from the cervix.
